European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA)

From now on until 2014, new regulations will begin to change the way that new commercial vehicles can be approved for registration. Beginning in October 2010; minibuses, coaches, buses, trucks, trailers and special purpose vehicles will gradually need to conform to TYPE APPROVAL.

EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA) has become necessary because of the impact that vehicles have upon society. It is based around EC Directives and provides for the approval of whole vehicles, in addition to vehicle systems, and seperate components. A prototype is tested and if it passes the tests and the production arrangements also pass inspection, then vehicles or components of the same type are approved for production and sale within Europe, without further testing. Over the next few years EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval will be extended to cover all new road vehicles and trailers not just cars. The new Directive, 2007/46/EC, will also cover national schemes for small series vehicles and individual approval.
Many products sold by Stedall VF Ltd fall outside of the testing criteria and as such do not require certification
The list below covers products of ours which do require certification
